Holiday Spotlight: Allison with New Fallen Snow – My Christmas Crate

Ho, Ho, Ho! Christmas is in full swing here at Christmas Crate HQ!

As you may have noticed, we recently started a "HOLIDAY SPOTLIGHT" here on the ol' XMAS Blog.... sort of a "meet n greet" of lovely folks who celebrate Christmas year round like us! People we think you might find interesting for a variety of festive reasons! (holiday crafting, decor inspo, holiday blogging or even business owners who are embracing the Christmas way of life).

We are THRILLED (I mean THRILLED) to introduce you to this months Holiday Spotlight..... not only because we think she's pretty cool BUT we featured her CHRISTMAS PLANNERS in this months Christmas Crates. Allison with NEW FALLEN SNOW not only creates beautiful holiday organizational planners but she's doing a pretty darn good job of keeping us on track for a smooth 2018 holiday season!

Hi! I'm Allison and Christmas is my passion, specifically planning for Christmas. Having time to enjoy the holidays is rare. If you dread the holidays, it's likely because you feel the pressure to get so much done in such a short amount of time. Remember when we were children how much fun the holidays were? It's because we weren't pressured with all of the things that need to be done in preparation. With a shift in thinking about when the holidays begin, we can all find time to do the things we love.

Allison is a Graphic Designer, Typography lover and home enthusiast! (Ahem, have you seen her Instagram account yet)?  By now, you may have received your Christmas Crate full of Christmas cheer which includes Allison's planners.... We thought this was a fantastic addition to our featured line up... really, there's no better time than right now to get your thoughts, ideas and recipes on paper to help keep you on track this season!

A few questions we had for Allison:

  •   How and why did you come up with your idea/product? I've always kept a Christmas journal! It helps stay organized during the holidays and, I love to get the "chores" out of the way so that I can be present and fully enjoy spending time with friends and family. A good friend encouraged me to publish it! She insisted that others could benefit in the same way. I hope that by getting a jump on things like shopping, we can all regain the magic of Christmas we felt as a child.
  • What are your future plans for the business? When I walk into my workshop, it's the full sensory experience. I have a hot cocoa to drink and a candle burning that smells like shortbread (my favorite cookie). Even in the middle of summer, it always feels like Christmas! I find that I jump right in and start planning. I decided it would be fun to collaborate with two other local crafters to add a special mug and candle to my shop to form a whole planning kit. Additionally, I've discovered that I love printing letterpress! I've added letterpress gift tags to the shop, and will soon be adding greeting cards. I would also love to add more planner designs.
  • What's your favorite Christmas memory? Christmas Eve has always been my favorite day of the year. The coziness, the anticipation, the gifts of gratitude we give to our friends and family, the smells and sounds...it is just the best! As far as a favorite specific memory, I have to say it happened about 10 years ago. I was making mac and cheese from scratch to bring along to our Christmas dinner at my mom's house when my husband (then boyfriend) insisted I take a break. I had just added the flour to the butter for the sauce. He insisted again. Finally I sat down on the couch and he proposed to me! I was in shock! What timing! HA!

Make sure to check out NEW FALLEN SNOW today and while you're there, take a look at these gorgeous gift tags:

"Comfort and Joy" and "Merry and Bright" gift tags have been blind embossed with the texture from the back of my New-Fallen Snow planner into rich, cottony paper. On top, that same steely-blue-gray ink has been added for the impression.
